Anycubic Photon Mono SE - Fast Resin 3D Printer

[ad_1]

The Anycubic Photon Mono SE is part of Anycubi’s current series of printers with monochrome display. This promises lower energy consumption, shorter exposure times and thus significantly shorter printing times.

Anycubic Photon Mono SE

ModelAnycubic Photon Mono SE
Speed80 mm /hr
Printing methodLCD-SLA
Print area130 x 68 x 170 mm
Layer height0.01 to 0.15 mm
Size (printer)220 x 200 x 400 mm
Weight (printer)8,2 kg

From the Photon Mono series, the Photon Mono X is the best known. This is similar in many respects, but is distinguished primarily by its extremely large print area. The Photon Mono SE, on the other hand, has an almost “normal” size and a 130 x 68 mm printing plate with a Z-axis height of 170 mm.

Unlike most printers, it also does not have a removable cover that slips over the printer. Instead, the entire frame is a continuous structure that can be opened by a flap on the front and top.

Anycubic Photon Mono SE inside

The advantage of the printer, however, is the stated print speed of up to 60 mm/h. For comparison: before the monochrome displays, printers reached a maximum of 30 mm/h, since then, 40-60 mm/h are often specified. (Partly, there was even talk of 80 mm/h, but this doesn’t seem to be true). In practice, this means that the individual layers are sometimes exposed for only one second (in the past, sometimes 6 seconds and more). This was also stated for the Photon Mono X. In the end, however, the speed depends on the slicer settings anyway, so longer exposure times are possible.

The display has a resolution of 2560 x 1620 pixels and thus promises a print accuracy of 0.051 millimeters in the plane. The minimum layer height is 0.01 mm. The values correspond to the current standard for SLA printers and enable detailed prints.

For slicing, the manufacturer relies on its own Anycubic Photon Workshop software. As a special feature, the printer has the option of being remotely controlled via app, which in practice probably means mainly that you can monitor the printing process on your cell phone.

Note on printing with resin

An SLA or DLP printer prints with resin, a chemical synthetic resin. This is highly irritating and skin contact should be avoided at all costs. If you do touch it with your hands, thorough hand washing is usually sufficient, but every skin reacts differently. The fumes produced are also not harmless, and the room in which the printer is located should be adequately ventilated. The printed object must also be cleaned with IPA (isopropanol) and cured under UV light. Afterwards, it is safe to touch the material.

Assessment

The Anycubic Photon Mono SE is – contrary to what was originally stated – probably not faster than comparable models. However, with 60 mm/h or exposure times of one second, the printer shares first place with other models. In Anycubic’s favor is the fact that they had already sold some very good printers with the last generation, and I also liked the Photon Mono X very much.

The printer also has a fair price. If you have already relied on Anycubic in the past and were satisfied, you won’t go wrong here either.

Redmi Note 10S smartphone with 64 MP camera

[ad_1]

The Redmi Note 9S had a difficult time in 2020. Despite its strong overall package, it was the only device without NFC. That rightfully annoyed the customers. At least Xiaomi does not make this mistake with the Redmi Note 10S. Is it the golden mean?

Redmi Note 10S smartphone design

Smaller than the predecessor

At first glance, the Redmi Note 10S looks just like its predecessor: punch-hole front camera in the center at the top of the screen, fingerprint sensor on the side, and a visible chin on the bottom. But compared to the 6.67″ diagonal, the Redmi Note 10S now “shrinks” to 6.43″, relying on an AMOLED display like most other Redmi Note 10 devices. The refresh rate here is 60 Hz, the resolution is 2400 x 1080 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 409 ppi, and the brightness is 450 nit on average and 1100 nit maximum. As with the Redmi Note 10, the panel is protected with Gorilla Glass 3.

Redmi Note 10S smartphone display

Xiaomi consistently sticks to three color options for the Redmi Note 10S: Blue, Gray and Pebble White, although the latter is more reminiscent of blue than white. The camera module is also indistinguishable from that of the Redmi Note 10, and the weight of 178.8 g is also very similar. In addition, there is the IP53 rating, which means that the 10S is at least protected against spray water. There is a USB-C port on the bottom, a 3.5 mm jack, and the IR blaster is on the top. Thus, the Redmi Note 10S is visually identical to the Redmi Note 10, except for the colors.

Redmi Note 10S smartphone colors

It is nice that the Redmi Note 10S is also equipped with a stereo speaker, which should make the sound more spacious and louder overall. Especially in combination with the AMOLED display, the phone is thus also well suited for media consumption.

MediaTek instead of Qualcomm

In the previous generation, the Note 9S and Note 9 Pro shared the same Snapdragon 720G processor. In this generation, the S version is more oriented towards the regular Note 10. This is noticeable, for example, in the MediaTek Helio G95 processor with a clock rate of 2.05 GHz, which is accompanied by the ARM Mali G76 graphics unit. We could already test the G95 in the Realme 7 and the SoC actually surprised us. Overall, it is on par with the Snapdragon 720G of the predecessor.

Redmi Note 10S processor

In contrast to the Note 10, the 4 GB of RAM is dropped and only 6 or 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64 or 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage are offered. The storage seems to be expandable via microSD card here as well. As in the other Redmi Note smartphones, Android 11 with Xiaomi’s own MIUI 12 interface is preinstalled. The battery is as large as usual with 5,000 mAh and can also be charged quickly via 33W. The charger is even included in the scope of delivery!

With a 64-megapixel main camera, the Redmi Note 10S is pretty much “exactly” in the middle between the Redmi Note 10 and the Note 10 Pro, although the sensor is not specified in more detail. In addition, there is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a 118° shooting angle, a 2 MP macro camera and a 2 MP portrait camera. On the front sits a 13 megapixel front-facing camera with ƒ/2.45 aperture for selfies.

Redmi Note 10S back

As already mentioned, the Redmi Note 10S is theoretically equipped with NFC, although there can once again be variations from market to market. Beyond that, however, a dual-SIM slot with LTE Band 20 has of course been installed, just like GPS, dual-band WiFi and up-to-date Bluetooth. 5G is only installed in the Redmi Note 10 5G.

Assessment

It remains to be seen whether the Redmi Note 10S really hits the happy medium between the strong Redmi Note 10 and Redmi Note 10 Pro. The potential is basically there, but the Note 10S probably lacks a unique selling point. A 90 Hz AMOLED panel would have made sense here. This could also be the camera, which depends on the sensor used. Otherwise, the price development and NFC availability will be an important factor. Other than that, the smartphone lines up well among the other models, even though some may be put off by the MediaTek processor. However, we can actually take away that fear after the review of the Realme 7.

The 6/64GB Redmi Note 10S costs as much as the larger version of the Redmi Note 10, coming in at $229. With twice as much mass storage, you land at $249, and with 8GB of RAM, it costs $279. Early bird pricing drops another $30 off, and it’ll be available in April.

Is the Redmi Note 10S the happy medium for you?

AMOLED & 33W charging at a bargain price!

[ad_1]

A short while ago, the Redmi Note 10 series was officially launched for the global market. This generation includes four devices. The most affordable is the Redmi Note 10 presented here, which is equipped with an AMOLED display. The other models are:

  • the Redmi Note 10 5G – 5G-capable smartphone with a 90 Hz display.
  • the Redmi Note 10S – an improved version of the Redmi Note 10
  • the Redmi Note 10 Pro – 120 Hz AMOLED & 108 MP camera.

The Redmi Note series is certainly one of, if not the most important smartphone series from Xiaomi in terms of sales. The Redmi Note 9 series has four offshoots in total. The company continues this trend this year and releases four devices. However, even the cheapest Redmi Note 10 gets an AMOLED screen.

AMOLED in this price range?!

Xiaomi does not make it quite easy for its fans and implements the same front design on all four Redmi Note 10 devices. They opt for a central punch hole, just like in the Redmi Note 9 Pro, so the front camera sits at the upper edge of the 6.43″ display. The display is the highlight, because Xiaomi and Redmi use an AMOLED screen for the first time. That is absolutely unusual in this price range, even with “only” 60 Hz like in this case. A Full HD+ resolution and a maximum brightness of 1100 nits are not missed, but the average is 450 nits. The contrast ratio is 4,500.00:1 and Gorilla Glass 3 display protection is also thought of. Despite the AMOLED display, the fingerprint sensor is still on the side.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 front and back export

The Redmi Note 10 is available in three colors: Onyx Gray, Pebble White and Lake Green, whereby the new green colorway is particularly appealing. With a total weight of 178.8 g in the hand, the Redmi Note 10 is relatively light. The camera module on the back is reminiscent of the Mi 10T and Mi 11, although the Mi 11 is predominant due to the camera plateau. Surprisingly, Xiaomi even gives the Redmi Note 10 an IP53 rating, which means it is at least protected against splashing water. This applies to the entire Redmi Note 10 series and was first implemented by Xiaomi in the POCO X3 NFC – after all.

Redmi Note 10 back green export

Redmi Note 10 with 33W fast charging

The look inside is a significant difference to the Redmi Note 10 5G, which Xiaomi also unveiled. At the heart of the Redmi Note 10 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 processor, an octa-core clocked at 2.2GHz and paired with the Adreno 612 graphics unit. This is accompanied by either 4 or 6 GB of LPDDR 4X RAM and 64 or 128 GB of UFS 2.2 mass storage. MIUI 12 based on Android 11 is already preinstalled on it. However, the storage seems to be expandable up to 512 GB.

Redmi Note 10 33W charging

As you would expect from the Redmi Note series, Xiaomi gives even the cheapest model a decent battery capacity of 5,000 mAh. They already established this size for the Redmi devices in the previous generation. Especially in combination with the energy-saving AMOLED screen and the 11 nm chip, we expect a top battery runtime. More surprising is the 33W fast charging via the USB-C port, which is possible with the Redmi Note 10. Besides the USB-C port, there is also a 3.5 mm jack, LTE band 20, an IR blaster and a stereo speaker – strong. Only NFC has not been mentioned so far, but that could possibly change with an additional European launch.

Redmi Note 10 camera

Those who want to take selfies can do so with a 13-megapixel front camera with ƒ/2.45 aperture. However, the 48-megapixel camera on the back is a bit more exciting, working with a ƒ/1.79 aperture and 1/2″ sensor size. The sensor is not specified in more detail, but it could be the same sensor as in the Redmi Note 9S. In addition, there is an 8 megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with 118° shooting angle, 2 MP macro camera and a 2 MP portrait sensor for additional image information.

Assessment

The Redmi Note 9 was the first Redmi Note device in the past few years that did not get an unqualified recommendation from us. The differences to the Redmi 9 were too small. That seems to change with the Redmi Note 10: AMOLED display, 33W charging, sufficient storage and stereo speakers are probably unbeaten in the price range! We still see the only sticking point in the processor, which we could not test so far. Apart from that, it could once again be a no-brainer.

The Redmi Note 10 already starts at a price of $199 in the 4/64 GB version, while the 4/128 GB costs $229. As with all devices, there’s a pre-order promotion on March 8 and 9 with early-bird pricing that saves you another $20 per device.

DJI FPV Combo - Spectacular FPV drone also for beginners?

[ad_1]

After the drone was leaked two weeks ago, the DJI FPV Combo has now been officially unveiled. DJIs announces nothing less than wanting to “reinvent” flying with it. Big words, so what exactly can the new FPV drone do?

DJI FPV Combo Drone

ModelDJI FPV Combo
Dimensions255 × 312 × 127 mm (with propellers)
178 × 232 × 127 mm (without propellers)
Weight795 g
Battery2,000 mAh
Speed140 km/h (100 km/h in 2 seconds)
Camera1/2.3″ CMOS; aperture: f/2.8; 150° field of view
Video: 4K (3840×2160) at 50/60 fps
Features10km video transmission, optional motion control, “Emergency Brake”

DJI is taking a different approach here than with its recent new announcements. Last year saw the release of the Mavic Air 2 and Mini 2, and the year before that we got the Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic Mini. Price-wise, the models differed enormously, but in principle they all do the same thing, namely stabilized, often automated camera movements. These look fantastic, of course, especially with the very good camera of the Mavic 2 Pro, but always remained limited to a horizontal perspective. The DJI FPV Combo now turns all that on its head – literally.

The drone comes together with the accompanying goggles, which are a new version of DJI’s already existing FPV goggles, and a remote control. Additionally, there is also a new motion controller that is operated with just one hand and controls the drone through its tilt sensors.

DJI FPV Combo Drone Controller

FPV drone for everyone?

DJI also explicitly wants to appeal to both beginners and experienced pilots with the drone, offering three different flight modes. In normal mode, the pilot is supported by GPS and visual positioning. Besides that, there is also an obstacle detection that warns of collisions. In manual mode, on the other hand, most of the aids are deactivated, which allows even freer flying. Finally, the sport mode combines both modes and still offers some aids to slowly get beginners used to free FPV flight.

The drone accelerates to 100 km/h in just two seconds and reaches a top speed of 140 km/h. The range of the remote control is up to 10 kilometers. At such speeds, it takes a steady hand and some experience. However, DJI builds an emergency hover button into the remote control that allows the drone – in any position and at any speed – to stop instantly and enter a controlled hover state.

DJI FPV Combo Drone lens

The drone’s camera records in 4k and 60 fps. The recording is stabilized by the GImbal and DJI’s Rocksteady technology. The image is transmitted to the goggles at 120Mbps and shown on their display at 1440 x 810p.

Price and availability

It is a proud price, but you can also expect to get the best drone from DJI so far. If the recordings are as good as seen in the numerous promo videos and the operation really allows beginners to get started with FPV flight, then the FPV Combo should be a success. DJI is already limiting orders to one model per buyer due to high demand.

The FFP2 mask as a mask bag? From China from 6,08€/$7.20

[ad_1]

“THE MASK” – instead of thinking of a Jim Carrey marvel here, as was usually the case, there is now only one mask that can be meant: the one I wear in public, never forget at home, and which has simply taken on a strangely important position in my life. That this also triggers new trends is obvious, let’s think of all the different fabric mask designs that could be seen everywhere. But it seems that the FFP2 mask can also make a splash as a mask bag.

Mask bag

Is this fashion?

Of course, the Far East always adds a little something extra. No matter what it actually is. In this case, there is a handbag that looks like an FFP2 mask from the outside. It comes in black or white and in three different sizes.

Mask bag color selection

The largest bag is 57 x 35 x 2 cm, the middle 30 x 19 x 1 cm and then there is apparently a version with a shoulder strap. There are various inscriptions and reflective patches on the bag. The inscription is “Stop COVID-19V – Let’s pull together and return fair weather” with the #social distance printed on the side. That’s actually not too bad by China standards in terms of text. There are clearly worse fails, some of them especially in the advertising pictures of the stores.

Mask bag small version

The smaller version does not offer too much storage space, but other masks can certainly be transported marvelously in it 😉 And it should also be large enough for wallet, keys and smartphone. For chunkier things there is alternatively still the larger model to choose from.

Mask bag large version

Every new visit of AliExpress and co. shows you so many things you have never seen in your life. And like here we try to show you the most interesting things of course. Whether you like it or not, you have to hand it to the Chinese: They are imaginative!

HYCHIKA 18V cordless reciprocating saw with two batteries & 2,700 rpm

[ad_1]

The manufacturer HYCHIKA could already impress us with the 18V cordless screwdriver. The range of the Chinese manufacturer includes even more tools, for example the HYCHIKA 18V cordless reciprocating saw. Once again, it offers a decent price advantage over Bosch & Co. But also the same performance?

HYCHIKA battery reciprocating saw scope of delivery

  • HYCHIKA 18V cordless reciprocating saw

With up to 2,800 rpm

For the fact that HYCHIKA is a rather unknown and new manufacturer, they consistently pull off their design language. The reciprocating saw is also visually reminiscent of the cordless screwdrivers, even if the combo of green and red is of course inspired by BOSCH. The reciprocating saw measures 40 cm in length, 18 cm in height and 8 cm in width, with a weight of 2.11 kg with battery. The dimensions are intended without the saw blade inserted. To insert it, you have to loosen the snap lock, turn the holder at the front counterclockwise, and then you can tighten the chuck again. At the front of the saw sits a button for length adjustment, namely the saw blade can be adjusted in four lengths.

HYCHIKA 18V AKKU sawing saw blade

In the scope of delivery there are two saw blades for wood, both with a length of 150 mm, and two saw blades for metal, also with a length of 150 mm. The HYCHIKA 18V reciprocating saw, can be used for wood, PCW or metal. For sawing, there is also an LED light above the saw, so that you should also be able to saw in the dark. The trigger is variable, so you can adjust the saw speed between 0 and 2,800 rpm depending on the workpiece. The Reciprosaw from HYCHIKA offers a stroke of 22 mm.

HYCHIKA 18V cordless reciprocating saw saws

The scope of delivery includes two 2,000 mAh rechargeable batteries, so you always have a spare battery available. With the included charger, one charge takes one hour. To be able to estimate the battery status of the saw, the manufacturer integrates three LEDs on the underside of the saw.

HYCHIKA cordless reciprocating saw batteries

Assessment

Sure, HYCHIKA is no Bosch or Makita, but the enormous price difference still makes the devices very interesting. We were satisfied with the two cordless screwdrivers in the test, but we have not yet been able to test the jigsaw. Compared to a BOSCH cordless reciprocating saw with 18V and 2,700 rpm, we have a price difference of over 80€! With HYCHIKA, you also get two batteries and the charger directly, the established manufacturers deliver the saws partly even without batteries.

If you have already made experiences with the HYCHIKA 18V cordless reciprocating saw or generally with the manufacturer, please let us know. Otherwise, we can try to get a test device if you are interested.
